Two Seasons, Two Directions

One of the unique things about the West Coast Flotilla is that it runs the same stunning route in reverse depending on the time of year:

  • June Route: Lixouri → Sami
  • September Route: Sami → Lixouri

This means you’ll experience the same incredible destinations, just in a slightly different rhythm.

The June Route: Lixouri to Sami

Your journey begins at our yacht base in Lixouri, a lively, traditional Greek town that’s full of character. It’s home to our Introduction to Sailing base, making it a perfect starting point for beginners and seasoned sailors alike.

By evening, Lixouri comes alive. Picture waterfront tavernas, buzzing cafés, and locals and visitors dining under the warm glow of the Ionian sunset. It’s also easy to provision here, with supermarkets and bakeries close to the marina.

The Itinerary

From Lixouri, your route unfolds like a greatest hits tour of Kefalonia’s west coast:

  • Lixouri – Your starting point
  • Atheras – A peaceful fishing village with a laid-back vibe
  • Asos – A postcard-perfect harbour with colourful houses and a Venetian castle
  • Polis Bay (Ithaca) – Crystal-clear waters and a chance to explore neighbouring Ithaca
  • Svivotas / Lefkas area – Sheltered bays and scenic sailing
  • Sami – Your final destination

By Day 5, you’ll typically arrive in Sami, leaving day 6 free for independent sailing. You can cruise gently along the coast or drop anchor in one of the many secluded beaches along the way.

The September Route: Sami to Lixouri

In September, the journey flips – but the magic stays the same.

You’ll start in Sami, a charming harbour town with everything you need to prepare for the week ahead. The flotilla base sits right on the quayside, surrounded by tavernas, a bakery and grocery shops.

From here, you’ll sail:

  • Sami → Ithaca coastline
  • Across to Polis Bay
  • Up to Svivota
  • Down to Assos
  • Into the tranquil harbour of Atheras
  • Ending in Lixouri

Arriving in Lixouri by Day 5 again gives you a final day to explore freely by boat – perhaps discovering a hidden beach, enjoying a swim stop, or simply soaking in your last day at sea.
