Our Yoga Instructor
Nel – Our Yoga teacher

If you came on holiday with us in 2024, you would have been lucky enough to meet the fantastic, smiley, and energetic Nel! Nel first started practicing Yoga at the age of 13, and in her 20’s found the benefits of Yoga to help people live a fulfilled life, to combat physical and mental illness.
Nel took her love for Yoga a step further and travelled to India where she remained for months, practicing yoga, and finishing her travels in Ashram in the foothills of the Himalays, training to become a fully-fledged Yoga teacher.
“I enjoy spreading Eastern knowledge to the West; teaching Yoga in the UK and Greece. I love to communicate, through my teaching, that Yoga is for, and will benefit, everyone in any walk of life”.

Yoga Practices & Itinerary
Vinyasa Yoga
Linking the movements with the breath is called Vinyasa. This is one of the most popular
styles of yoga and is called ‘flow’ because of the smooth way the poses run together.
Attention is focused on alignment and transition between poses, leading to improved
stamina and flexibility. The beauty of Vinyasa yoga is the variety. There is no standard sequence in Vinyasa yoga, so the style, pace, and intensity will all vary depending on the teacher. Classes may be sequenced around a peak pose such as a backbend, or they might focus on a particular theme such as the chakras or an aspect of yoga philosophy. The class may be dynamic and focus on strengthening postures, or it may be a slower flow with an emphasis on mobility and flexibility in the spine or the hips.
YIN Yoga
Yin yoga is a quiet contemplative practice. Yin yoga works deeply into our body with
passive, longer-held poses. It targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective
tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body, and the
meridians. This is contrast to a Yang yoga practice such as Vinyasa yoga which targets
the muscles. Energetically, Yin yoga improves the energy flow, enhancing the flow of chi in the organs. To be healthy, we need healthy organs as well as healthy muscles. Yin yoga also offers Breathwork Facilitator, with wonderful emotional and mental health benefits.
Astanga
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga emphasises the linking of movement and breath (vinyasa), Ujjayi breathing, and bandhas (energy locks). Ashtanga Vinyasa is a very dynamic and athletic form of yoga. It is made up of six “series” (Primary, Intermediate, and four Advanced series) each of which has a fixed order of poses. The traditional sequence starts with five Surya Namaskara A and five B, standing poses, one of the six series, and ends with a finishing sequence. Traditionally this is taught in a “Mysore” style where the student learns the sequences gradually under the personalized guidance of a teacher, progressing onto the next posture when they are ready.
Hatha Yoga
Yoga class described as ‘Hatha’ will typically involve a set of physical postures (yoga
poses) and breathing techniques. These are typically practised more slowly and with
more static holds than a Vinyasa flow or Ashtanga class. And indeed, that is how we
describe our Hatha yoga classes on EkhartYoga.
Literally however, Hatha means ‘force’ and is more traditionally defined as ‘the yoga of
force’, or ‘the means of attaining a state of yoga through force’. So Hatha yoga can be
considered as anything you might do with the body.

In the local area
Here are some options to check out in the local area:
- A sunset meal at one of the best beaches in the Greek islands is also a must. Petani beach and taverna “Erasmia“. Only a 15 – 20 minute taxi ride from the club this place is incredible – get there early for a swim and settle down for a wonderful eating experience.

What we say…
It’s a good idea to pre-book an arrival transfer and be met at the airport for a stress-free arrival ,as the airport is often quite hectic.
Often guests do choose to make their own way back to the airport for the return transfer at the end of their holiday – a short shuttle bus into Lixouri, grab the ferry across the bay to Argostoli (20 mins) and then jump in another taxi for a 20min ride to the airport. All arranged locally by the team in resort.
