An Overview
Tucked away on the peaceful western coast of beautiful Evia island, this charming family-run hotel is a hidden gem. It’s a tranquil spot with a cool vibe and incredible sunsets.
Comfy rooms are nestled on the hillside amongst the scented pines and colourful oleanders, and the crystal clear waters are great for swimming and snorkelling.

Flights & Transfers are not usually included in our holiday packages as we offer a bespoke travel experience and some guests prefer to organise their own travel independently.

Our ATOL license 12803 ensures that with a flight-inclusive package you will be looked after in case we have to cancel your holiday or leave you stranded overseas due to any company financial difficulties. It ensures you will receive a full refund for all aspects of your holiday and/or be repatriated.
Booking flights through us incurs a £25 ATOL fee.
Destination – Athens Airport Greece (ATH).
Flight Requirements – changeover day usually Sunday (some flexibility) – please ensure your flight arrives at the airport no later than 18.00 if you book your own flights and leaves Athens no earlier than 11:00 on your departure.
Transfer details – it’s usually a shared transfer with other club guests and depending on numbers it will be a taxi or minibus. The whole trip takes approximately 90 minutes including the short ferry crossing.

What we say…
We recommend pre-booking both arrival and return transfers with us, as Athens airport is incredibly busy and there’s a few other elements to the transfer to consider such as ferries etc.
It’s a 50 – 60 minute drive to the lovely little harbour followed by a frequent ferry across the narrow channel from the mainland to Evia island, which takes 45 minutes. It is then only a short 5 minute hop to the club by the hotel shuttle. We arrange for you to be met at the airport, and harbour with your ferry tickets ready to board. For many guests it’s a highlight of the holiday.

How does it work ?
Free use of all the watersports equipment, bikes and fitness sessions. Just turn up at the beach. We rig it for you, set you off and give you a few helpful tips.
No matter what you’re into, our friendly and skilled beach team and beach team are there to help you learn and stay safe. We’ve got all the latest gear, so you’ll be ready for some fun days out on the water and beyond with the inclusive water sports and other activities such as cycling, wild swimming and health & fitness.
Safety
Safety on the water is of course our first priority. Fully qualified beach team run the beach operation and are vigilant both on the beach, and on the water in our registered rescue craft with handheld VHF radios, always working to strict safety ratios and other proven guidelines. Mandatory buoyancy aids, restricted sailing areas, sign in/out and a compulsory “safety clinic” at the start of the week are just some of the many things we do.
Group Coaching Sessions
We include optional free group sessions on a daily basis throughout the week to get you up and running, safe on the water and to fine-tune those water sports skills. At the beginning of the week we focus “getting you going” and progress to more advanced techniques as the week goes on.

“It’s an idyllic location with a cool vibe, fantastic sea views from our selection of rooms and knock out sunsets. The little town is only a short stroll along the beach with lots of waterfront tavernas ,cafes and bars – perfect for twitchy teens. The sandy beach and rocky coves are brilliant for kayaks, swimming, and snorkelling. The bar and restaurant overlook the beach and sailing area for a great club atmosphere at the shared hotel. There’s a tennis court and spa too ! Great consistent breezes in the summer months brilliant for intermediate to advanced sailors, catamarans, windsurfers and foiling – and it keeps it cool !

Wind conditions
Great conditions with consistent summer winds. Early mornings and evenings tend to be lighter, good for paddleboards, kayaks, wild swimming and paddle excursions. The cross/cross offshore breeze picks up throughout the day, usually force 4-6 before dying off again in the evening.
Novice dinghy sailors & windsurfers can practice their skills in the safe & sandy shallows of our sheltered bay and off the club beach in the shallow areas.
Intermediate and advanced dinghy sailors, windsurfers and wing foilers will love the consistent breezy conditions.

Singles
Out of school holiday periods and away from the crowds we often have solo travelers enjoying the sun and water sports. Its the kind of place where there’s loads to do and everyone is really friendly. The island is a fascinating place to explore with excellent local walks, historic sites and places of interest. We offer single occupancy in our sea view rooms at certain times of the season out of the school holiday periods.
Friends
There’s no doubt that if you can, May, June and Sept are the best months to visit Evia. Cheap flights, less intense heat, loads of free sailing equipment and a wonderfully relaxed vibe about the place. Oh, and endless games of pit pat and backgammon by the pool.
Families
Great for families. We don’t run specific kids clubs or child care per se, however, our friendly beach team do all they can to get everyone busy on and off the water with group tuition sessions open to all ages and kids specific watersports sessions available through the week which get them making friends and having fun in the shallows.
With the lively atmosphere and large pool, close proximity to town and also the good winds it works particularly well for families looking to progress with their sailing and windsurfing and take part on the other activities such as mountain biking, table tennis and tennis.
It’s also great for little ones out of the school holiday periods with free holidays for those 4 years old and under* and a good kids play area.

Kids Activities
During the school holiday periods our beach clubs are full of like-minded families looking for a little bit of adventure. We strike a nice balance for active families and the kids will come away having made a lot of new friends and had a fun time.
We include a variety of fun activities and casual water sports instruction for children.
Every week, when there are children in resort we host ‘meet-up’ sessions on land for our younger guests. These are designed as icebreakers for the children to begin their holiday friendships. The beach team will organise a few games (such as beach volley ball) and encourage the children do things together. The age split of these sessions will be determined by the age of the children in resort, it will not be the same every week. This age split will be advertised in welcome meetings and on the daily chalkboards. Typically the age split will be up to 12 years and over 12 years (teenagers).
In addition to the on-land ‘meet up’ sessions we offer 2 on-water sessions every day (when there is demand), dedicated to our younger guests. These are not teaching sessions. They are accessible to all abilities and are a series of games using watersports equipment. For quieter weeks this could include activities such as catamaran joy rides, for busier weeks this could include activities such as SUP assault courses. As with all activities, fun, and safety are the key elements. These sessions will be offered even if there is only 1 child in resort.
Children can also join the usual inclusive group tuition sessions (dinghy or windsurf for example) and sign up to an RYA course (which is extra).

Holiday at the Lixouri beach club using the lovely Lazaratos Hotel where the food is excellent and the family team are super friendly. The beach team were fantastic with a fun and easy going attitude but also the best attention to safety I have seen at similar operation. There was always a safety boat on the water and Ben gave them an update whenever anyone launched. With a sign on and off the water a very well run and safe operation. Jake sorted the only issue I had and he along with all the rest of the instructors and team were great throughout the week. Would I go back? Yes due to the friendly relaxed vibe and great food at the Hotel. Perhaps I will go for a dinghy course next time.

Excellent opportunity to learn windsurfing, sailing and, amazingly, foiling with a wing! You can also do kayaking and paddle boarding if you’re tired. All staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. They let you try it all in a very safe environment. Also every one seems to be quite laid back I felt that our safety has never been compromised. What could be helpful it is to have a WhatsApp group or other way of letting people know whether the beach is open or closed ( we had a couple of sessions missed due to a storm). It was difficult to plan the day and we had to come down to the beach to find out whether it is open ( we had to come back from another part of the island)

Just back from a wonderful week at Paliki – all the Trek staff were so helpful and really reassuring for the nervous! Loads of availability for equipment and some great opportunities to join in some fun activities. Very well organised firm who made booking and sorting the trip very easy. The staff were very friendly and most helpful in all aspects of the holiday. Not a single person who let the team down – all excellent. The holiday was superb for all ages. We were 4 adults with some sailing experience and were made to feel just as welcome. Always top notch equipment to take out and many available for all. The area was lovely but would highly recommend hiring a car to see more of the island.

What an amazing holiday. Our kids 11 and 8 had an absolute blast learning to windsurf and sail. And I found an unexpected thrill in learing to wing surf. The beah team were absolutely incredible, in particular Ben who is simply fantastic at what he does. Amazing with the kids, great fun to be around. The hotel staff are super friendly and chat to you every day. Food is good. Accommodation was decent enough for the amount of time spent inside (next to none). We met a great group of people and socialising was made easy with beach bite nights and the pool bar. My biggest gripe would be that there’s no toilet on the beach. Best holiday we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommended. Thank you Trek adventure!

A small, friendly and very helpful company. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, booking and information was easy and forthcoming and once in Kefalonia we found the hotel staff incredibly helpful and generous. The beach is sandy which can be rare for Greece and the beach staff great fun, brilliant with our kids who ranged from 13 to 15 giving instruction but also not being overly restrictive. The equipment was good and quickly repaired when anything broke. It was a great week and we will add it to our shortlist of locations for next year!

Our 2nd year at the fabulous Lazarotos Hotel with Trek, great watersports, staff, rooms, food (although would prefer it slightly warmer), beach, loungers, pool and stunning scenery. 10 euros each way in a taxi to Lixouri for good choice of restaurants, shops and the ferry to Argostoli. Beach bites is a must (didn’t happen last year due storms). The hotel family make you feel like part of their family. Thank you Kefalonia is a beautiful island with so many stunning beaches and towns to visit, staying for an extra week or so is recommended to explore further afield. Turtles in Argostoli and Petani beach sunset a must! We will be back, Thank you for another fabulous week.

We had a great week in Lixouri. The “team” were all very friendly, helpful and full of encouragement. We have teenage children and they were great at bringing the kids all together and breaking the ice. The hotel food and staff were lovely, the bedrooms quite basic but you don’t spend much time in there, the shower was good, which is the most important and the bed comfortable. I would recommend this holiday and found it to be a fair priced holiday.

We stayed the week at the Lixouri Bay Lazaratos resort. Firstly the family run complex was excellent, the 4 inclusive meals were great. The Family couldn’t do enough to help you, rooms cleaned every day bedding and towels changed very regularly. The lunches were local produce homely cooked. Moving on to the Trek Adventures part of the holiday, can only say that the team and kit were excellent. All staff were keen and very able, the variety of watercraft was fantastic. There was always kit available to take out, even when staff were running courses. Trek team ran activities for guests into the evening on occasions. Both my sons were experienced sailors but have come home beaming about trapezing a RS500 or catamaran. Really enjoyed the wing surfing and wind surfing, kit for all abilities. We will be back.

Absolutely fantastic holiday! We stayed at the Lazaratos Hotel who host the Lixouri Bay beach club; a really great family-run hotel with tremendous hospitality and a real care for making sure their guests always feel happy and at home. The Trek Adventures team ran the entertainment and all the sailing and beach club activities – these were equally fabulous. Loads of great sailing, windsurfing, kite boarding, kayaking, and beach games. The range of water-sports (and equipment) available was really good, and the team there were such a great bunch of people who just couldn’t do enough to make the whole week tremendous fun. From helping our kids learn to sail new types of boats, teaching them wing-boarding, running ‘wacky races’, or hosting evening beach parties, everything was done with such fabulous lighthearted enthusiasm the week just flew by! It was a superb holiday – one we’ll remember for a lifetime! Thank you so much!

This was our second time and it was just as amazing as the first. The whole atmosphere of the hotel and beach club is perfect. Relaxed, low key but very professional, well organised and safe. Our boys (13, 17) made loads of friends and were constantly active. The food in the hotel taverna was excellent. I love the flexibility of being able to take out whatever craft you like whenever you feel like it knowing that the team are there to keep you safe and provide guidance if you want it. Could not recommend it highly enough.

If I could leave 6 stars I would. This was our second year with Trek, and we were first attracted to it by the reports that it was great for teenagers. That proved to be the case both last year and this year! Happy teens = happy parents. The beach crew are fantastic – friendly and knowledgeable and the family run hotel is so welcoming. This year we did the Intro to Sailing and got our ICC. We had a fantastic week sailing, with Maddy as our instructor who was brilliant. We will be looking to book again next year!

A truly wonderful holiday with Trek Adventures. Yota and the family at Lazaratos Hotel were warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They made every guest feel special and very welcome. The hotel was immaculately clean and the food was delicious and plentiful! The Trek beach staff and instructors did an amazing job of making the holiday fun and safe. A fantastic experience for our 9 year old who learned to wing surf and met lots of children his age to hang out with. I would definitely recommend Trek Adventures to anyone especially for families with children, all the children including the teenagers were happy and entertained all week. We will definitely be back!

The Local Area
The Greek island of Evia is in a peaceful location, away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Athens. Part of the Aegean islands and just off the eastern coast of the mainland, it’s popular for its hiking trails and outdoor activities. Evia is still, however, relatively undiscovered by international tourists. Evia is the second largest island after Crete and offers gorgeous beaches, traditional villages, and breathtaking landscapes.
There are a multitude of walking/running trails and mtb bike routes directly from the club.
The local towns
On the southeastern coast of Evia lies the charming seaside town of Nea Styra (Nea Stira), known for its beautiful beaches, delicious seafood tavernas and relaxing atmosphere. It’s only a short 15-20 minute walk along the beach from the club. A cool, cosmopolitan vibe in the summer months with fabulous fish tavernas and cafes dotted along the seafront. Some of the best local food (great fish) we have ever had !
The old town of Styra, only a 10 minute cab ride from the club and nestled in the hills is also well worth a visit. A lovely old town square with cafes and tavernas and spectacular views over the gulf towards the mainland. There’s a beautiful old taverna with tables under a large oak tree – traditional Greek dishes and a lovely atmosphere.

We have a fantastic range of kit at Stira Bay, mostly new, from Topper, Laser, Starboard, RDD, Fat Stick, Mistral and Severne to name a few. Pre-booking isn’t needed, just wander down and off you go.
New hard tail mountain bikes are provided by Scott.
We also have safety boats ready to go, and a full range of buoyancy aids and helmets for security. Here’s a selection of what we might have rigged and ready for you on the beach.

Windsurf boards

The boards range from 96L-220L to cover everyone’s needs. Our RRD Sails and Severne selection covers all wind ranges and abilities with sizes from 1.5m for the smaller windsurfers amongst us, up to 7.0m to get you planning in those lighter conditions.

This gives you the chance to wander along the beach in the evening and sample the amazing local tavernas in the local seafront town and old village in the hills behind.
Brekky – (included every day) start the day with fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, cheese, omelettes, pastries, coffee and more. Fresh orange juice and barista coffee is available to purchase if you wish.

The lovely Lefka Taverna overlooking the beach is open daily from 1pm onwards for delicious traditional Greek fare, salads and more.
Bar & Beach Bar serve snacks, pizzas, crisps, ice creams and a range of other snacks, plus a wide selection of drinks and cocktails are available all day from 11am – late daily.
Dinner – (included 3 times) two excellent sunset beach BBQ’s and one buffet meal are included.
You can choose to stay at the club on non-inclusive nights for their buffet or comprehensive bar snacks, or sample the amazing local tavernas a short stroll away along the beach ( they are really excellent and great value).
We love the food!
At the Club, you can expect to taste an excellent variety of locally sourced and fresh ingredients, served at the beachfront Lefka taverna. From classic Greek kitchen dishes, seasonal salads and freshly grilled sardines, to a hearty club hamburger we will ensure that all dietary requirements are catered for as well as fussy eaters too!
When it comes to drinks, Evia has lots of varieties of grape grown locally, producing some very fine, internationally recognised wines worth trying, along with some fantastic Hellenic beers, there’s plenty to sample and enjoy and all are very reasonably priced.

Here are some AMAZING !! options to check out in the local area:
- A sunset meal at one of the best fish tavernas in the Greek islands is also a must. Nea Styra taverna “Sardelitsa”. Only a 15 – 20 minute walk from the club this place is incredible – get there early and settle down for a wonderful seafood eating experience. There are lots of fantastic local restaurants.
- Head into the old town of Styra in the hills behind the club and only 5 – 10 minutes in a taxi. “To Steki Ton Dipnosofiston” is a wonderful traditional taverna under the cool branches of a very old oak tree. The atmosphere is relaxing and the food sensational.

Please note that, for your safety and enjoyment, the Welcome Meeting at the start of your holiday week is mandatory if you wish to take part in any of our on water activities. The watersports equipment is available for use from 10:00 – 1 & 14:30 – 18:00. Where is Stira Bay Beach Club?
Stira Bay Beach Club is located on Evia Island, which is just northeast of Athens. Fly into Athens International Airport and approx. 90 minute travel time to the club. (On occasion, there may be a short wait time for ferries depending on the timetable.) The club itself is located on the western coast, towards the south of the island, next to the town of Nea Styra, which is a fantastic little town only 15-20 minutes level walk along the shoreline to the club (hotel shuttle service also available.) The town has lots of tavernas, cafes and shops.
If we have to fly to Athens before the start of our holiday with BeyondBeach, where do you recommend we stay?
There is no shortage of choices in and around Athens. There is something to suit all budgets from youth hostels, to luxury hotels. For accommodation ideas and the latest availability we recommend looking at AirBnB, Booking.com or Accor.com.
If you want to stay in Athens to visit the tourist sights, look at hotels in the regions of Monastiraki (North of Acropolis), Plaka (North east of Acropolis and Monastiraki), Makriyanni (South of Acropolis), Koukaki (South of Makriyanni lots of hotels here) and Syntagma (East of Plaka).
If you want to stay near the airport, there is the Sofitel hotel at the airport or you could look at one of the following regions: Ag. Ioannis, Giourgia, Prasinos, Spata, Artemida, Silivani, Vorineza
What meals are included?
All hotel accommodation is Club board, which is breakfast every day and three evening meals. Meals are served on the arrival evening and 2 evenings during the week. Lunch and dinner on non-inclusive nights are available at the club taverna, buffet and bar. There are various excellent restaurants and tavernas in Nea Styra, Styra and the local area.
What is the food like?
Our Stira Bay holidays are offered on a Club Board basis. It’s a buffet breakfast served daily in the restaurant between 8am and 10.30am.
Lunch is served at the pool bar and also in the taverna from 1 o’clock under the shade – it’s a pretty extensive menu with fresh seasonal produce all cooked on site and includes fresh fish.
The pool bar also serves snacks, drinks and ice creams throughout the day.
Your inclusive meals will be served buffet style and 2 of these meals are BBQ grill style served at the beach bar with a fantastic sunset.
Is there a supermarket and shops close to the club where we can buy provisions?
Yes there are various supermarkets, shops and pharmacies in Nea Stira, about a 15-20 minute walk from the Club.
Is the beach sandy?
There are 3 beaches at the club. A sandy beach/promenade directly in front of the restaurant and pool, another sandy beach where we have all our watersports equipment immediately adjacent and a lovely secluded rocky cove, with a pebble beach. The sandy beaches have gained “blue flag” status and the water is crystal clear. The nice thing is that you can sit at the beach bar or restaurant and watch the dinghies with a cold beer or a frappe. Bliss.
Do all the rooms have sea views?
All of our rooms have stunning sea views and balconies. Many of the rooms are virtually waterfront, with only a few meters of rocky slab between your balcony and the waters edge. The balconies are large and comfortable, seating 4.
Are there any ‘safe’ jogging or walking routes from the resort
There are some excellent routes directly from the club, both on and off-road. There are also some very nice hikes, particularly along the beautiful coastal path to paradise beach – approx. 6km. Some partsare a bit of a scramble but really worth it due to the countless rocky coves en-route and total privacy.
Where do you recommend to eat in the evening

Do you provide beach towels ?
Yes. We provide one beach towel per person per week. These are signed out on arrival and signed back in before departure.
Is it good for snorkelling and swimming ?
Yes. Stira Bay is excellent for snorkelling and swimming with beautifully clear water and rocky coves to explore away from the beach. No wet suit required !
Families
Do you have a kids club? What activities are there for children?
Every week we host ‘meet your mate’ sessions onland for our younger guests. These are designed as icebreakers for the children to begin their holiday friendships. The beach team will organise a few games and encourage the children to have fun together. The age split of these sessions will be determined by the age of the children in the resort.
In addition to these onland sessions we offer a minimum of 2 onwater sessions each week, for each age group. These are not teaching sessions. They are accessible to all abilities and are a series of games using our watersports equipment. This could include activities such as catamaran joy rides or SUP assault courses.
We also offer a Toddler Splash session for under 5’s. This session is facilitated by a team member, however parents must be in attendance. The staff will provide kayaks, sups, and boats for them to play on in the shallows. This session aims to encourage water confidence and to inspire an interest in boats and the water.
We do not offer a daily childcare program or club.
Is there a minimum age for children on the beach/activities/watersports?
There is no minimum age. There is something for all ages and abilities. Under 5’s can join Toddler Splash sessions and enjoy using watersports equipment with their grown ups. Over 5’s are old enough to join lessons if they wish to.
When children are NOT in instructor-led sessions, parents/guardians must remain close:
For under 10’s please be afloat with them.
For 10 to 12’s please remain on the beach.
For 13+ please remain in the hotel grounds.
During instructor-led sessions parents must remain close:

We have teenage children. Is there enough for them to do?
Absolutely. We have plenty of activities and lessons to keep them busy. From sailing, to winging, to volleyball, to yoga, to water polo. We also run a couple of lowkey ‘meet your mates’ sessions which allow the teenagers to meet each other and form friendships straight away.
They can also hang out at the beach bar or spend all day lazing on a sunbed on teh beach or by the pool. There is also Wifi throughout at the club.
For older teenagers Nea Stira is close, only a 15-20 min walk. There are various bars and clubs and a good cosmopolitan atmosphere in the summer months.
Stira Bay really does suit teenagers.
What happens if I want to go sailing/ paddleboarding for an hour and I have kids – do you look after them? Do you offer a babysitting service?
We do not offer childcare or babysitting services.
What age are your life jackets or buoyancy aids suitable for?
Bouyancy aids are compulosry for many of our onwater activities. These are offered in a range of sizes. For our smaller guests, typically under 5’s, we provide life jackets instead of buoyancy aids. These are limited in number and so it is very helpful if your little one can bring their own float coat or life jacket, if you have one.
Is there a kids pool?
I am afraid there is no kids pool at either of our Clubs.
Is there a kids playground?
Yes in Lixouri in the local town there is a playground. At Stira Bay Beach Club the hotel run a Children’s Play Garden session every day from 12:00 – 16:00.
What food is available for my kids?
All of our inclusive meals are buffet service with a great, wide selection of food. As we are busy with families throughout the summer, our friendly hoteliers and chefs are used to younger guests and therefore cater for this.
If there are any key dietary requirements or preferences that your children have, you can put this into your Guest Information plus it would be good to email us. We will always work with our hotel teams to cater to all of our guests needs.
For the non-inclusive evenings, our hotels have a’la carte menus that have all the favorites, from burgers and chips to local specialties. Local restaurants are also well adapted to catering for children.
