Who’s it for ?

BB’s take…

“It’s a peaceful place, almost a private club really. Big sandy beach and loads of space help to make it a very chilled out club indeed. The town of Lixouri is a short taxi ride away and good to explore on a free night – it’s a great spot for foiling too with flat water and a gently shelving beach”

Wind conditions

Great conditions for beginners and experts alike. Mornings tend to be light, perfect for paddleboards, kayaks and wild swimming. The cross/cross offshore breeze picks up nicely for the afternoon, usually force 3-5.

Singles

Out of school holiday periods and away from the crowds we often have solo travellers enjoying the sun and water sports. It’s the kind of place where there’s loads to do and everyone is really friendly. The island is a fascinating place to explore with excellent local walks, museums and places of interest. We offer single occupancy in our studio appts at certain times of the season.

Friends

There’s no doubt that if you can, May, June and Sept are the best months to visit Kefalonia. Cheap flights, less intense heat, loads of free sailing equipment and a wonderfully relaxed vibe about the place. Oh, and endless games of pit pat and backgammon by the pool.

Families

The club is great for all ages really. Families with teenagers sometimes like to take advantage of our Villa Club accommodation which are closer to the action and only walking distance to the buzzing town square of Lixouri.

It’s amazing for families.  We don’t run specific kids clubs or child care, however, our friendly beach team do all they can to get everyone on the water with group tuition sessions open to all ages and kids specific watersports sessions available through the week which get them making friends and having fun on the water.

READ MORE ABOUT OUR KIDS ACTIVITIES

Kids Activities

During the school holiday periods our beach clubs are full of like-minded families looking for a little bit of adventure. We strike a nice balance for active families and the kids will come away having made a lot of new friends and had a fun time.

We include a variety of fun activities and casual water sports instruction for children.

Every week, when there are children in resort we host ‘meet-up’ sessions on land for our younger guests. These are designed as icebreakers for the children to begin their holiday friendships. The beach team will organise a few games (such as beach volley ball) and encourage the children do things together. The age split of these sessions will be determined by the age of the children in resort, it will not be the same every week. This age split will be advertised in welcome meetings and on the daily chalkboards. Typically the age split will be up to 12 years and over 12 years (teenagers).

In addition to the on-land ‘meet up’ sessions we offer 2 on-water sessions every day (when there is demand), dedicated to our younger guests. These are not teaching sessions. They are accessible to all abilities and are a series of games using watersports equipment. For quieter weeks this could include activities such as catamaran joy rides, for busier weeks this could include activities such as SUP assault courses. As with all activities, fun, and safety are the key elements. These sessions will be offered even if there is only 1 child in resort.

Children can also join the usual inclusive group tuition sessions (dinghy or windsurf for example) and sign up to an RYA course (which is extra).

Holiday at the Lixouri beach club using the lovely Lazaratos Hotel where the food is excellent and the family team are super friendly. The beach team were fantastic with a fun and easy going attitude but also the best attention to safety I have seen at similar operation. There was always a safety boat on the water and Ben gave them an update whenever anyone launched. With a sign on and off the water a very well run and safe operation. Jake sorted the only issue I had and he along with all the rest of the instructors and team were great throughout the week. Would I go back? Yes due to the friendly relaxed vibe and great food at the Hotel. Perhaps I will go for a dinghy course next time.

The Trek team were super helpful and supportive and always on hand for advice for sailing activities. We really valued what we got from them. Staying at the hotel Apolafsi is such a pleasure – Babis and his team are the best and the food is fantastic. I’m sure we’ll be back pretty soon for a third visit. Would totally recommend a Trek sailing holiday in Paliki.

A great week sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and paddle boarding. Tom, Ben and the team were very friendly and happy to help get our mixed ability group of 10 adults and teenagers onto the water. Highly recommend if you are looking for a family friendly activity holiday.

Excellent opportunity to learn windsurfing, sailing and, amazingly, foiling with a wing! You can also do kayaking and paddle boarding if you’re tired. All staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. They let you try it all in a very safe environment. Also every one seems to be quite laid back I felt that our safety has never been compromised. What could be helpful it is to have a WhatsApp group or other way of letting people know whether the beach is open or closed ( we had a couple of sessions missed due to a storm). It was difficult to plan the day and we had to come down to the beach to find out whether it is open ( we had to come back from another part of the island)

Just back from a wonderful week at Paliki – all the Trek staff were so helpful and really reassuring for the nervous! Loads of availability for equipment and some great opportunities to join in some fun activities. The kids learned to windsurf, my husband rediscovered sailing and I just loved kayaking with the sea turtles. Our rep Alex gave great advice, the hotel and all the staff there were so welcoming. Couldn’t have asked for a better holiday – would recommend to anyone!

Very well organised firm who made booking and sorting the trip very easy. The staff were very friendly and most helpful in all aspects of the holiday. Not a single person who let the team down – all excellent. The holiday was superb for all ages. We were 4 adults with some sailing experience and were made to feel just as welcome. Always top notch equipment to take out and many available for all. The area was lovely but would highly recommend hiring a car to see more of the island.

What an amazing holiday. Our kids 11 and 8 had an absolute blast learning to windsurf and sail. And I found an unexpected thrill in learing to wing surf. The beah team were absolutely incredible, in particular Ben who is simply fantastic at what he does. Amazing with the kids, great fun to be around. The hotel staff are super friendly and chat to you every day. Food is good. Accommodation was decent enough for the amount of time spent inside (next to none). We met a great group of people and socialising was made easy with beach bite nights and the pool bar. My biggest gripe would be that there’s no toilet on the beach. Best holiday we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommended. Thank you Trek adventure!

A small, friendly and very helpful company. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, booking and information was easy and forthcoming and once in Kefalonia we found the hotel staff incredibly helpful and generous. The beach is sandy which can be rare for Greece and the beach staff great fun, brilliant with our kids who ranged from 13 to 15 giving instruction but also not being overly restrictive. The equipment was good and quickly repaired when anything broke. It was a great week and we will add it to our shortlist of locations for next year!

Our 2nd year at the fabulous Lazarotos Hotel with Trek, great watersports, staff, rooms, food (although would prefer it slightly warmer), beach, loungers, pool and stunning scenery. 10 euros each way in a taxi to Lixouri for good choice of restaurants, shops and the ferry to Argostoli. Beach bites is a must (didn’t happen last year due storms). The hotel family make you feel like part of their family. Thank you Kefalonia is a beautiful island with so many stunning beaches and towns to visit, staying for an extra week or so is recommended to explore further afield. Turtles in Argostoli and Petani beach sunset a must! We will be back, Thank you for another fabulous week.

We had a great week in Lixouri. The “team” were all very friendly, helpful and full of encouragement. We have teenage children and they were great at bringing the kids all together and breaking the ice. The hotel food and staff were lovely, the bedrooms quite basic but you don’t spend much time in there, the shower was good, which is the most important and the bed comfortable. I would recommend this holiday and found it to be a fair priced holiday.

We stayed the week at the Lixouri Bay Lazaratos resort. Firstly the family run complex was excellent, the 4 inclusive meals were great. The Family couldn’t do enough to help you, rooms cleaned every day bedding and towels changed very regularly. The lunches were local produce homely cooked. Moving on to the Trek Adventures part of the holiday, can only say that the team and kit were excellent. All staff were keen and very able, the variety of watercraft was fantastic. There was always kit available to take out, even when staff were running courses. Trek team ran activities for guests into the evening on occasions. Both my sons were experienced sailors but have come home beaming about trapezing a RS500 or catamaran. Really enjoyed the wing surfing and wind surfing, kit for all abilities. We will be back.

Absolutely fantastic holiday! We stayed at the Lazaratos Hotel who host the Lixouri Bay beach club; a really great family-run hotel with tremendous hospitality and a real care for making sure their guests always feel happy and at home. The Trek Adventures team ran the entertainment and all the sailing and beach club activities – these were equally fabulous. Loads of great sailing, windsurfing, kite boarding, kayaking, and beach games. The range of water-sports (and equipment) available was really good, and the team there were such a great bunch of people who just couldn’t do enough to make the whole week tremendous fun. From helping our kids learn to sail new types of boats, teaching them wing-boarding, running ‘wacky races’, or hosting evening beach parties, everything was done with such fabulous lighthearted enthusiasm the week just flew by! It was a superb holiday – one we’ll remember for a lifetime! Thank you so much!

This was our second time and it was just as amazing as the first. The whole atmosphere of the hotel and beach club is perfect. Relaxed, low key but very professional, well organised and safe. Our boys (13, 17) made loads of friends and were constantly active. The food in the hotel taverna was excellent. I love the flexibility of being able to take out whatever craft you like whenever you feel like it knowing that the team are there to keep you safe and provide guidance if you want it. Could not recommend it highly enough.

We’ve just come back from a week in Kefalonia at the Paliki Beach Club, where we stayed in one of the nearby villas. The Trek beach team were first class – friendly, encouraging and professional. Kefalonia was in the middle of a heatwave so it was especially tiring for the team to be out all day looking after guests. Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday

If I could leave 6 stars I would. This was our second year with Trek, and we were first attracted to it by the reports that it was great for teenagers. That proved to be the case both last year and this year! Happy teens = happy parents. The beach crew are fantastic – friendly and knowledgeable and the family run hotel is so welcoming. This year we did the Intro to Sailing and got our ICC. We had a fantastic week sailing, with Maddy as our instructor who was brilliant. We will be looking to book again next year!

A truly wonderful holiday with Trek Adventures. Yota and the family at Lazaratos Hotel were warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They made every guest feel special and very welcome. The hotel was immaculately clean and the food was delicious and plentiful! The Trek beach staff and instructors did an amazing job of making the holiday fun and safe. A fantastic experience for our 9 year old who learned to wing surf and met lots of children his age to hang out with. I would definitely recommend Trek Adventures to anyone especially for families with children, all the children including the teenagers were happy and entertained all week. We will definitely be back!

About the local area

Kefalonia is one of a group of islands on the western side of Greece in the Ionian Sea. It is the largest of the Ionian islands and boasts the third-highest mountain range in Greece. Parts of the island are now national parks, home to wild horses, golden eagles and other protected flora and fauna.

Water sports & activities

No matter what you’re into, our friendly and skilled beach team and RYA instructors are there to help you learn and stay safe. We’ve got all the latest gear, so you’ll be ready for some fun days out on the water and beyond with the inclusive water sports and other activities such as cycling, and wild swimming. Exclusive to our guests.

Just turn up at the beach. We rig it for you, set you off and give you a few helpful tips.

Tuition

We include free group tuition sessions on a daily basis (aka Support Clinics) throughout the week to get you up and running and to fine-tune those water sports skills. At the beginning of the week we focus “getting you going” and progress to more advanced techniques as the week goes on. If you wish to have 1 to 1 tuition then we can provide this and we also offer more structured RYA courses (dinghy and windsurf) where you can gain a certificate.

Safety

Safety on the water is, of course, our first priority. Fully qualified RYA instructors run the beach operation. They are vigilant both on the beach and on the water in our registered rescue craft with handheld VHF radios, always working to strict safety ratios and other proven guidelines. Mandatory buoyancy aids, restricted sailing areas, sign-in/out and a compulsory “safety clinic” at the start of the week are some of the many things we do.

Sailing boats

  • Single-hander boat

    RS Neo

A single-hander with a sparkling performance, easy handling and real durability, the RS Neo delivers maximum reward for minimum hassle. A step-up in speed without the demands of more radical designs. The RS Neo is accessible, exciting and great for a sail around the bay.

  • Compact boat for 2 or single-handing

    RS Zest

The brand new compact boat that delivers more crew space and practical, enjoyable features than older generation rivals. Class-leading space for two sailors, yet small enough for convenient single-handing. This is a boat to get you onto the water and into the wonderful world of sailing – no hassle – no end to the fun.

  • Compact boat for 2 or single-handing

    Topper Topaz Uno

The TOPAZ Sailing System delivers versatility without compromise with a breathtaking range of rig options from simple single-hander right through to new generation gennaker sailing. Simply choose a rig to satisfy the sailor or sailors on the day. It is easy to handle and very robust and provides a great introduction to sailing as well as being an ideal family multi-purpose dinghy.

  • 2 to 4 person dinghy

    RS Quest

A fast modern 2 to 4 person dinghy with features that move the game forward. Big enough for an instructor and 2 or 3 pupils – perfect for Mum or Dad and youngsters – small enough to handle easily ashore and afloat. Durable roto-moulded polyethylene construction – space and stability – reefing, asymmetric spinnaker, trapeze, stowage and a host of other options. It’s not easy to make it all work but RS development team have nailed it on this boat.

  • 1 – 3 person

    RS CAT 14

This boat takes the enjoyment and handling associated with beach cats to a new level. Stiffness and balance defy the cost-effective durability of the RS CAT14’s construction – making the boat perfect, not only for training and recreational sailing but also as a true performance pathway class. We’re excited – and we think you will be too.

  • 2 -3 person

    RS 500

The RS 500 is a high-performance vessel, only available at Lixouri Bay Beach Club. It’s a fast and exciting trapeze double hander, used in world championship racing so it’s a vessel for intermediate to advanced levels only.

    Red Paddle Co. 10’6 RID

If you could only ever have one Red Paddle Co board, the Ride 10’6” is the one we’d tell you to ride – it’s already the world’s most popular inflatable SUP, perfect on clear blue, glassy Greek seas for a little or big explore.

  • The ultimate group paddle experience

  • Severne Sails – Convert

The Convert is a fully-featured freeride sail. Range from 4-7m. An obvious choice for any progressing windsurfer, the Convert is purpose-built to be easy to use. Weight is kept to a minimum, boom lengths are short and down-haul tensions are reduced for easier rigging and nice, soft handling characteristics.

  • Windsurf – Starboard Rio

These are the boards that cover learning, progressing and planing for the first time. They are considered all-rounders because they are equally good at providing stability for beginners to learn and providing power for progressing windsurfers to get planing smoothly. Once planing, the Rios feel responsive and fun. These qualities also make the Rio the number one choice for dozens of schools and centres.

  • Starboard – Go

Get going on the perfect board. The iconic and irreplaceable GO boards: the progressive boards for improving beginners to advanced windsurfing. The perfect first board that helps you advance from your first steps to fully planing, carve jibing.

How far from the Airport is the Beach Club? What’s the best way of getting between the two?

Lixouri Bay Beach Club is approximately a 60 minute drive from the airport.

There are two options for transfers:

1) Pre-book a taxi direct from the airport to the beach club.

2) Grab a taxi on arrival at the airport for the 20 minute transfer to the ferry. Ferries run every 30 minutes.  Hop on the ferry and once seated the ticket officer will come and take your fare. It costs approx. 3€ per person and takes 30 minutes.  Sit on deck in the sun and enjoy the warm breeze.

Once off the ferry, you’ll need to pick up a taxi from the rank on the right hand side of the town square. It’ s a 5 – 10 minute drive to the beach club.

Taxi pricing can be found on our transfer page.

How many people can a taxi take?

Generally, most taxis are licensed for 4 passengers, no exceptions. There are some large vehicles available on the island, particularly from the airport.

What is the food like?

Our Lixouri Bay Beach Club holidays are offered on a Club Board basis (villas are self-catering). It’s a buffet breakfast served daily between 8am and 10.30am. Fresh, good quality coffee can also be ordered (not included).

Lunch is served at the pool bar and also in the taverna from midday under the shade – it’s a pretty extensive menu with fresh seasonal produce all cooked on site and includes fresh fish.

The pool bar also serves snacks, drinks and ice creams throughout the day.

Your inclusive meals will be served buffet style in The Deck Restaurant on the top floor of the hotel from 8pm on Thursday (arrival day), Friday, Monday and Wednesday (final day) evenings.

On the other nights of the week, the club taverna is still available for meals. These can be added to your room bill.

We also recommend hopping in a taxi for one evening as there are 3 incredible fish tavernas on amazing beaches. These are Sparos Taverna Bistro near Mega Lakkos Beach (15 min drive), Spiaggia Vatsa on Vatsa Beach (15 min drive) and Erisma at Petani Beach (15-20 min drive).

In high season, pre-booking is advisable as well leaving plenty of time to drive there.

Is there a supermarket close to the club where we can buy provisions?

Yes there is an excellent super market about a 5-10 drive from the club in Lixouri, where you can get all your provisions. If you need an ATM or pharmacy then you will also find these in Lixouri.

We have teenage children. Is there enough for them to do?

Absolutely, there is sailing, windsurfing catamarans, wing surfing, foiling, sups and kayaks all available as well as tuition clinics too, so they can head out on the water whenever they fancy.

What facilities are there at Villas (ie Is there a washing machine/dish washer etc)

We have a list of all the facilities at each villa which can be found on our website.

Are there any ‘safe’ jogging routes from the resort

By far the best jogging from Lixouri Bay Beach Club is along the beach. We recommend taking a light jog North from the beach club where you can run right up to an old ruined building. You can then turn back south and again run past the beach club down to where the water level rises. This gives you a bit more of a challenge on the sand! If you are more of a road runner take a trip into the town of Lixouri and run around the back streets – everywhere has pavements and it is a great way to explore Lixouri!

If you are looking for more of an off-road adventure run we know of some really great walking routes that would be fantastic to run – Just let us know and we can help you find one!

Where do you recommend to eat in the evening

Next door to Lixouri Bay Beach Club is V Boutique which offers a good range of seafood, as well as vegetarian and vegan options.

There are a selection of restaurants in the local area outside of Lixouri, which require a taxi to get to. Please ask a member of staff for more details.

There are some fantastic restaurants in the local town of Lixouri. We recommend heading into town on your evening off and following your nose! There is no need to pre book as the town has many different restaurants and LOTS of space at each. Feel free to ask the management team in resort for their recommendations.

How much is a taxi into Lixouri town from Lixouri Beach Club?

Approximately 10€ each way for a 5-10 minute taxi ride. 4 people per taxi, no exceptions.
