Beach Club Holidays Greece
Greece
Greece – the home of Lixouri Bay Beach Club, Stira Bay Beach Club and our Villa Club holidays is stunningly beautiful. With much to see and do, sometimes it feels like a week or two just isn’t enough. Our Greek beach clubs and villas are located on the Lixouri peninsula, on the west of the island of Kefalonia and the beautiful island of Evia.
Embrace laid-back life in the nearby charming local towns. Drop in for a frappe and watch the world go by from one of the many cafes on the bustling town square. The beaches are beautiful and plentiful, scattered along the dramatic coastline – and often less touristy than some other well-known areas of the island. Cool, low-key beach bars and traditional village tavernas serve local dishes with fresh, seasonal ingredients.

About Greece
People have been loving Greece and the islands for ages, and it’s easy to see why. There are pristine sandy beaches, ancient ruins from Byzantine and Roman times, friendly local taverns, and a strong tradition of hospitality. Plus, this is where the ‘Mediterranean Diet’ was born, so you can bet the Greek food is seriously tasty. Picture fresh seafood, seasonal veggies, all cooked up with a good dose of Greek olive oil.
The scenery is something else – think endless clean beaches, clear waters, rugged mountains, green valleys, and forests. There’s loads to do, especially if you’re into water sports and adventure. And the weather is great all year round. While Greece is famous for its perfect summers, it’s a good call any time, especially in the quieter months of April to June or September to October when prices and weather are both excellent.
Brief history
Archaeological finds in different areas of Kefalonia gave evidence that the island was inhabited since 10,000 BC. Like much of Greece, Kefalonia has had a turbulent history. It is firmly embedded in Greek Mythology, with many scholars arguing that Kefalonia was the true home of the famed hero, Odysseus. The island was also occupied by the Byzantines, Turks, Venetians, British, and the Ottomans before it became a Greek state in 1864. During World War II, Kefalonia was occupied by the Axis powers, primarily Italy.
If you’ve not read it, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin is a beautiful wartime story set on the island.
Best beaches
Kefalonia has some of the best beaches in the whole of Greece.
Things to see & try
There are so many highlights it’s hard to choose…although Kefalonia is quite a large Greek island, it doesn’t take more than an hour or so to get from the cosmopolitan northern tip of Fiscardo to the southern wine growing areas under Mt Aenos.
