Job Summary

BeyondBeach are looking for an enthusiastic and approachable individual with a substantial level of experience in the watersports industry. In this hands-on role you will be responsible for the delivery of several core aspects of the Beach Club product including: RYA instructor camps, RYA guest courses, private tuition and staff training. You will be based at the Lixouri Beach Club.

Staff training will play a fundamental role in ensuring that all activities are strictly adhering to BeyondBeach and RYA guidelines. You must have excellent knowledge of RYA procedures. You will lead by example and have a ‘hands on’ approach with everyday tasks. 

As well as being a hands-on teaching role this role also requires strong organisational skills and admin skills. You will be asked to take responsibility for the profitability of RYA courses and camps. You will be asked to do administrative tasks to support the successful delivery of the below, including a weekly report.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

1. STAFF TRAINING for all beach club staff

  • Organising and delivering a 4 day program of pre-season training for staff.
  • Completing/Monitoring Day 1 inductions for staff in Lixouri. 
  • Run RYA Powerboat Level 2, RYA Safety Boat and RYA First Aid Courses throughout the season to ensure all watersports staff are qualified in these before the season ends.
  • Delivering ongoing training sessions throughout the season to meet BeyondBeach and Staff aims. Including a 1 hour staff session once a week for Lixouri staff. 
  • Ensure training is well documented in staff logbooks. 
  • Delivery of any training can be by other staff but you will guide this and monitor standards.
  • This is a supportive role to the Centre Managers and Beach Supervisors. 

2. RYA COURSES at Lixouri Beach Club

  • Implement a successful ‘2 day RYA Course’ program.
  • Generate sales and record in-resort sales for RYA Courses.
  • Where possible deliver all RYA courses yourself.
  • Delivery of courses can be done by other staff but you will guide this and monitor standards.
  • Monitoring all standards associated with RYA Courses: from marketing, to kit availability, to course delivery, to costs, to revenue
  • Attending the weekly welcome chat to promote RYA Courses.
  • Complete a weekly report: including certificate stock checks, certificates issued, income logging.

3. PRIVATE TUITION at Lixouri Beach Club

  • Implement a successful Private Tuition program.
  • Generate sales and record in-resort sales for Private Tuition.
  • Where possible deliver all Private Tuition yourself.
  • Delivery of Private Tuition can be done by other staff but you will guide this and monitor standards.
  • Monitoring all standards associated with Private Tuition: from marketing, to kit availability, to course delivery, to costs, to revenue.
  • Attending the weekly welcome chat to promote Private Tuition.

4. WING HUB at Lixouri Beach Club

  • Develop the new wing/foiling dedicated rack at Lixouri Beach Club.
  • Present yourself as the resident wing/foiling expert and take ownership of the “wing hub”.
  • Work tirelessly to promote the foiling hub with the ambition of expansion in 2025.  The aim is to create a Lixouri Beach Club wing/foiling specific holiday which meets the needs of a growing foiling dedicated market.
  • Implement a successful ‘Wing’ program.
  • Generate sales and record in-resort sales for Wing Sessions.
  • Where possible deliver all Wing tuition yourself.
  • Delivery of Wing Sessions can be done by other staff but you will guide this tuition and monitor standards.
  • Monitoring all standards associated with Winging: from marketing, to kit availability, to course delivery, to costs, to revenue.
  • Attending the weekly welcome chat to promote Wing Tuition.

5. INSTRUCTOR TRAINING CAMPS  at Lixouri Beach Club

  • Delivering at least two 4 week RYA Instructor Training Camps during each season.
  • Closely monitoring standards of any staff that are required to assist with training camps.
  • Ensuring all required qualifications are completed prior to the instructor moderation: first aid, powerboating, personal skills, safeguarding.
  • Ensuring all student paperwork is completed prior to camps starting.
  • Ensuring all student paperwork is completed prior to moderation weeks starting.
  • Taking full ownership of the skill development and personal welfare and well being of all students attending the camps.
  • Meet new students on arrival day. Complete their inductions and welcome chat.
  • Hosting and supporting the RYA Trainers during moderation weeks.
  • Monitoring all standards associated with Winging: from marketing, to kit availability, to course delivery, to costs, to revenue.
  • Attending the Weekly Farewell Drinks to promote Instructor Training Camps.
  • Organise Staff training weeks alongside RYA moderation weeks.

You will have a pre-agreed weekly task list to complete and a weekly report to submit. However, you are largely responsible for your own time management and weekly routines. You will manage your own time off. This role requires strong organisational skills. Training will be given but it is important to know that you will spend some time doing admin tasks and preparing for new arrivals, new sessions or weekly reports. At times your working hours may be longer than those around you, but you need to remain motivated and productive at all times. A true passion for watersports and for training others will ensure your motivation remains high. 

At the start and the end of each season you will focus on staff training and Instructor Camps. In the peak season you will focus on RYA courses and Private Tuition.You will work closely with the Centre Manager to ensure that you are both working towards parallel goals and ensuring the success of all Beach Club elements. You must understand that whilst you are not a direct line manager to other staff, you are in a prominent position of responsibility and as such your actions must show this at all times. As a Trainer, both in and out of work other staff will look to you for support and examples of BeyondBeach standards. Excellent customer service to staff and guests is essential. A friendly, open and approachable manner are incredibly important. You are a role model to all other BeyondBeach Staff.

  • Multihull Endorsement
  • Yachting experience/Qualifications 
  • Clean Criminal Record check 
  • Experience working within a watersports operation 
  • Experience of being responsible for safety standards
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Skilled in safety and on the water rescue techniques
  • Competent swimmer
  • Clean and tidy appearance
  • Natural motivator
  • Over 21 years of age 
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Valid driving licence
