Vaujany, our ski resort in France, is so much more than a touristy, purpose-built ski resort. It is one of the ultimate backdoor ski locations given its accessibility to a cable car, plethora of facilities and guaranteed snow.

There are a few bars in the village for that after-ski tipple and some charming little restaurants serving both local and international cuisine. The network of hidden escalators weaving around the village makes it easy to get from place to place.

Whether you are a group of beginners, experienced skiers or a family, there is something to satisfy skiers and snowboarders of all levels.

This unspoilt village on the doorstep of the vast Alpe d’Huez ski area offers stunning scenery but is free of the crowds and commercialism of the bigger resort.

It is voted one of the best family skiing holiday areas with short transfer times and extensive high-altitude skiing but with a traditional village feel. There are also 1st class amenities and facilities, including a pool, ice rink and some lovely low-key restaurants and bars. In the mornings, take advantage of its super-fast, queueless 160-man lift, which takes only 7 minutes to reach the main snow-sure ski area and its long-established ski school for adults and kids.
