About Fitness Is.
We’ve teamed up with south Devon based Fitness IS. to bring you a few days of fitness and fun. Step up for some high-intensity beach training sessions, refreshing pool time and fab water sports, all in the Kefalonia sunshine. An awesome short summer break for those looking to get active and top up that tan.
With stunning sea views, our lovely pool, taverna, and bar are at the heart of this great little beach club. Comfy accommodation, zinging fresh local taverna food, and a friendly laid back atmosphere with plenty of soul, all make this a fantastic fitness holiday in Greece.

Kefalonia is one of a group of islands on the western side of Greece in the Ionian sea. It is the largest of the Ionian islands and boasts the third highest mountain range in Greece. Parts of the island are now national parks, home to wild horses, golden eagles and other protected flora and fauna.

Lixouri Bay beach club
Our large studios, suites and apartments at Lixouri Bay beach club are comfortable and nicely presented. Most have outstanding sea views, overlooking the beach and across the bay to the mountains beyond. Spacious, cool and modern with self-catering facilities and tea / coffee making facilities. There’s an internal lift also if required and WIFI throughout.
We also have a lovely selection of villas, all very close by, which offer a little bit of exclusivity and independence that some families are looking for.
We offer this active holiday as a “Club Board” option – all breakfasts and 2 evening meals are included. This gives you the opportunity to choose lunch options and explore the local area and its fantastic scenic tavernas on a couple of evenings – which is a must.
We love the food!
Don’t expect drab international fare – at the Club, you can expect to taste an excellent variety of locally sourced and fresh ingredients, served at the club taverna which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. From classic Greek kitchen dishes, seasonal salads and freshly grilled sardines, to a hearty club hamburger we will ensure that all dietary requirements are catered for as well as fussy eaters too!
Crisps, ice creams and a range of other snacks, plus a wide selection of drink and cocktails are available from the Beach Bar 11am – 6pm daily.
When it comes to drinks, Kefalonia has 48 varieties of grape grown locally, producing some very fine, internationally recognised wines worth trying, along with some fantastic Hellenic beers, there’s plenty to sample and enjoy and all are very reasonably priced.
In the local area
Here are some options to check out in the local area:
- A sunset meal at one of the best beaches in the Greek islands is also a must. Petani beach and taverna “Erasmia“. Only a 15 – 20 minute taxi ride from the club this place is incredible – get there early for a swim and settle down for a wonderful eating experience.
- Head into town and Lixouri square, 5 – 10 minutes in a taxi from the club (1 taxi for 4 people is ~€10 one way). A wonderful place to watch the world go by with countless cafes, tavernas and bars. Whatever you do, don’t miss the best ice cream in the world at “I-Scream” – it’s divine and we love it!
Issy Wood – FITNESS IS
Issy Wood as FITNESS IS, is based locally to BeyondBeach HQ in sunny South Devon. Since 2019 she has been joining us in Kefalonia each year. She delivers high-intensity workouts to groups of all ages, and abilities and also specialises in programming for individuals focusing on improving their health and well-being.
Our hotel and beach team will ensure that everything from the almond milk in the morning buffet, to the high-speed catamaran blasting in the afternoon, is taken care of.
Safety on the water is, of course, our first priority. Fully qualified RYA instructors run the beach operation and are vigilant both on the beach and on the water in our registered rescue craft with handheld VHF radios, always working to strict safety ratios and other proven guidelines. Mandatory buoyancy aids, mast floats on all boats to prevent full capsizes, restricted sailing areas and a compulsory “safety clinic” at the start the holiday are just some of the many things we do.

Watersports are wind and weather dependent and sometimes we rearrange to make the most of the weeks weather. We also adapt our plans to what you would like to learn so please let us know if there is something specific you would like to learn!!
Lixouri Bay beach club is quick easy to get to, with a reasonable flight time of 3hrs from the UK and many regional departure airport options direct to Kefalonia airport. Transfer is approximately 60 minutes.
Arrival transfers are not included as your holiday, but are really easy to organise via our website to book your transfer with our recommended transfer partner.
On arrival in Kefalonia airport make your way to the arrivals gate exit and your transfer should be waiting for you. It’s a 60 min transfer to the club.
How fit do I need to be?
AS there will be two trainers at each of the fitness sessions, we can accommodate a wide range of fitness levels and can offer alternative exercises for higher or lower intensity. Each session will last for a minimum of 60 minutes so the ability to keep exercising for the duration which will include some running/jogging.
What is involved in the fitness sessions – what do we do? How long is each session?
The morning sessions are based around high intensity interval training (with some lower intensity options where necessary) including a combination of cardio, strength and core work and will predominantly take place on the local beaches.
The early evening Pilates sessions are calmer and quieter with an emphasis on core strength and general wellbeing set in beautiful beachside gardens.
Including the warm up and cool down, each session will last between 60 and 75 minutes.
I have never done Pilates before, can I take part in the daily eveing class?
Whilst some knowledge of Pilates is useful, it is not essential and we will ensure beginners are guided through the basic principles.
Do I have to partake in all the activities?
No not at all, you can do as much or as little as you like. This is your time away and you can either be super-active all the time or spend more relaxing by the pool, the choice is totally up to you.
I can’t sail. Will I be able to participate in the sailing and windsurfing?
Yes of course. Our RYA trained instructors are always on hand down on the beach to help you up and out on the water! We also hold daily teaching clinics in either sailing or windsurfing and last year we had complete beginners out sailing both dinghies and windsurfs on their own after only 4 days.
I am travelling on my own. Is it safe and suitable for me?
Most definitely. We get plenty of solo travellers for the Fitness Is holiday and a lot of guests opt for the same flights (feel free to ask us about this) so that they’re never on their own or without any familiar faces. The hotel is small and personal and pretty much everyone staying there will be on the fitness holiday.
What’s the weather like and is it too hot for working out?
The weather is usually absolutely perfect in June and September. Not too hot in the midday sun and still warm in the evenings. The high-intensity workout takes place at about 8am so it is a perfect temperature and not too hot and the Pilates at 6 o’clock in the evening once the heat of the sun has calmed.
What meals are included?
Breakfast and two evening meals are included. These are on your arrival and final evenings. Lunch and dinner on non-inclusive nights are available at the club taverna. Alternatively, there are various restaurants and tavernas in Lixouri Town and the local area.
What is the food like? I am gluten / dairy free.
The food at the hotel is excellent. It’s locally sourced, fresh and all cooked from the kitchen by the fantastic extended Greek family who run the hotel. They are always more than happy to cater to all dietary needs.
Is the transfer included?
Fitness Is. does not have transfers included. These can easily be booked via our website. Please click here to get started.
How many people / ages / mixed groups?
There are a maximum of 30 people on the weekend and both men and women are most welcome. Last year the age range was from 19 to 55, with the majority being ladies in their 30’s and 40’s.
Who are the instructors?
The instructors for the fitness classes are both from London based fitness specialist BlitzFitness. The watersports instructors at the Beach Club are all RYA qualified and based out in Kefalonia with Sea-Trek for the summer season.
Are there any Spa or Massage options?
Yes, there is a Spa a short taxi ride away and we can arrange massages on site at the hotel. Both will need to be pre-booked before your holiday.
